Studio to Plein Air - Seeing Expressive Color

Are you interested in learning how to paint outside in nature? June 22, 9AM to 3PM, Susan Nicholas-Gephart will be teaching "Studio to Plein Air" at Rhoneymeade.

Discover how to see beyond the obvious within the landscape, and use expressive color to capture the essence of mood and atmosphere in sky, water, and more. Whether you work in pastel, oil, or both mediums, you will learn to see the depth of color and create a unique and personally expressive painting.
Skilled in both pastel and oil, Susan is a seasoned plein air and studio painter that will lead you to your personal color expression in the medium of your choice. The morning will begin with a short demo and a “Hands-on” focusing on methods that will aid in color expression.

The use of underpainting and color mixing will be explored in both pastel and oil. “Thumbnail Sketches” and their importance in supporting strong compositions and values within color, will help you “Target Focus” on what inspires you in the landscape. There will be personal time at your easel following the morning demo, with support and attention given at each artist’s easel. I welcome the beginner and create an atmosphere in which they can flourish and "Fear No Art"!
