J. Harlan Ritchey is a self-taught artist who received his BA in Filmmaking from Penn State in 1999, with Honors in Visual Arts. Since then, he has done commissions for fine art, illustration, and design for a variety of local and national clients. An avid draftsman, he has most often worked in graphite and ink but is expanding into watercolor. His show at Rhoneymeade consists entirely of central Pennsylvania landscapes, with each image reflecting a diversity of art-historical, cultural, and personal influences. The drawings address their subject matter through a wide range of styles, while consistently expressing the artist's profound sense of connection to the places he lives and works.
