Kestrel Hatchlings!
James Lesher received some pictures from Steve Eisenhauer of Natural Lands of some Kestrel hatchlings in one of the several Kestrel boxes at Rhoneymeade. Steve has been establishing and monitoring Kestrel boxes to promote Kestrel conservation for several years now. It takes about 30 days for the hatchlings to fledge. In the photo below, there are three new hatchlings and hopefully one or two more eggs about to hatch. Kestrel clutches are typically 4-6 eggs. They have a long way to go, but hopefully we’ll have some young Kestrels testing their wings over Rhoneymeade in about a month. Bill R., PAMN Volunteer
